Jon Sopel’s ‘Notes from Trump’s America’: this week’s Bite-Sized Lecture

In the Southampton Bite-Size Lecture Series this week, the Engagement and Advancement Events team is delighted to revisit one of its favourites from the archive – taken from the 2017 Distinguished Lecture Series.

Our very own Jon Sopel – Southampton alumnus, University Pro-Chancellor, honorary degree recipient and BBC North America Editor – delivered an entertaining and thoughtful insight into his book If Only They Didn’t Speak English: Notes from Trump’s America, to a packed lecture theatre on Highfield Campus. Now you can watch the highlights.

In the 20-minute video, Jon talks about the unusual, challenging and fast-moving political landscape that he witnessed first-hand under the Presidency of Donald Trump.

This one is a must-see! You can watch the best bits of the Jon Sopel lecture here:

In case you’ve missed any of the previous releases from the series, you can catch up on all of them here. Speakers from past weeks include Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, and Baroness Patricia Scotland, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.

Brand new lectures will also be uploaded to the page every Thursday. They’re the perfect length to watch on your lunch break!
