Introducing E-Mentoring Southampton

We’re excited to announce the launch of E-Mentoring Southampton, the University of Southampton’s new online mentoring platform.

A collaboration between the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and the Careers and Employability Service, E-Mentoring Southampton is the platform that connects students and alumni online.

For the first time, the Southampton alumni community can provide vital careers help and support to students and other alumni from anywhere around the world.

This is especially important during the coronavirus outbreak. Students are away from campus and are unable to access the careers advice and guidance usually offered. Additionally, many new graduates have entered an uncertain working environment and may be unsure about their next move.

On the platform, alumni mentors have a variety of options of how they can help. From something as simple as looking over a CV or passing on their expertise, to offering more in-depth advice and even offering internships. Through e-mentoring, alumni will be able to kick-start careers and ensure students and recent graduates are in the best position to succeed.

This is a chance for both students and alumni to draw upon the knowledge and expertise of the global Southampton alumni community.

Kieron Broadhead, Executive Director of Student Experience said: “This is a massive step forward for our business. Never have our students and new graduates needed careers support more. Through e-mentoring, our alumni can make a real impact on our students’ futures. I am delighted to see this launch – it has been a fantastic cross-team effort.”
