Keeping active in lockdown with Sport and Wellbeing

Sport and Wellbeing are working hard behind the scenes to keep the University community active throughout lockdown. Many of us have had to adapt to a change in lifestyle, but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep your fitness up at the same time! Here are just some of the ways you can get active with us.

Classes

We have been delivering free online fitness classes for staff and students to follow along with twice daily via Facebook live, which is a great way to interact with the familiar faces of our team whilst working out, or try something new in the comfort of your home! Don’t worry if you can’t make the live broadcast, all of our videos are available for playback on Facebook forever. Alternatively, subscribe to our YouTube channel where you’ll find the entire collection of 150+ classes in easy to browse playlists such as yoga, prenatal, fit kids, and more. For the weekly timetable, check the pinned post on our Facebook page.

Partial reopening – Tennis and basketball

We are pleased to have begun the process of reopening in a limited capacity. You are now able to book tennis courts at Wide Lane on a pay as you go basis, or make use of the tennis and basketball courts at Avenue campus for free, whilst adhering to social distancing rules. More information on making bookings can be found here, and here is a map of our sports facilities. Please be aware that the rest of our facilities remain closed until further notice.

#YourActiveStory

We want to hear how you are keeping active in lockdown, to share the human side of adapting to adversity. Tell us your story like James has, and if we publish it we will send you a free pair of Bluetooth earphones and a water bottle!

#DYGCoach
