Summer term has come to an end and our staff have been working hard to put in place plans so our students feel safe and supported on and off our campuses next academic year.
We’ve put some information together below to keep you informed of what Uni life may look like next academic year.
Graduation
Even though we can’t hold the traditional graduation ceremony this Summer, the Exams, Awards and Graduation Team are busy working behind the scenes to plan something special for our graduating students.
We’d like to get your ideas about having online celebrations in late August or early September. Take our quick survey and let us know what you think!
If you are due to graduate this summer, we’re sorry that we can’t celebrate with you in person this year. We would like you to know that you will have the opportunity to attend a graduation ceremony in person when it is safe to do so.
Safety
There will be a number of changes to the way we move around our campuses, use buildings and attend seminars. This is mainly so we can be certain that we’re following social-distancing guidelines. Our campuses and facilities will be operating as normal, where possible. Although the situation is rapidly changing, these are some of the things you can expect to find:
- Social distancing
- Face-coverings
- Increased cleaning
- Temperature testing
- Hand-sanitizer dispensers and extensive daily cleaning
We’ll be getting in touch with you soon to let you know about protective equipment, and what you should do if you do not want to return to campus.
You can find further information on the safety measures on our webpage here.
Facilities and Campus Life
In line with government guidelines, we will aim to have as many facilities open on campus as possible, including bars and cafes.
The Library are currently working towards a phased opening of activity on Highfield campus and other sites. They are aiming to launch a click & collect service in July for you to pick up books requested online.
Accommodation
We know a lot of our students have many questions about accommodation, and our Residences Team are putting everything in place to ensure your safety in Halls. The team are putting together a list of frequently asked questions which will be available on our Student FAQs webpage soon.
Students’ Union
The Students’ Union shop will be open from 13 July.
We know important events such as Freshers’ Fair and the annual Bunfight will not look the same as usual but the Students’ Union are already making plans to adapt in lockdown and beyond.
Remember: Official Freshers events and activities will only be listed on the Students’ Union website.
