On Tuesday 30 June, over 100 postgraduate researchers and staff joined Professor Chris Howls, Director of the Doctoral College, for the 5th Doctoral College Awards Ceremony, which took place online.
The Doctoral College Awards celebrate the breadth and quality of the doctoral research here at the University.
Congratulations from all of us in the Doctoral College and across the University to the runners-up and winners of the Doctoral College Research Awards, the Doctoral College Director’s Awards, and to the winners of the 2020 Three Minute Thesis competition.
We would also like to thank colleagues at the University for nominating our researchers for the awards and to our Three Minute Thesis judging Panel.
It was a close call, but the panel chose James Easton, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (School of Chemistry) to become the 2020 University 3MT Champion. The Runner-up and People’s Choice Champion was Daniel Wallace, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (School of Engineering).
In closing the ceremony, Professor Howls raised a celebratory glass to all the participants, winners and colleagues who had nominated doctoral students for an award, and to the Festival interns, Sien and Florence.
