Uses for your spare COVID-19 sample pots

Some of you will have spare plastic sample pots left over after you’ve taken your COVID-19 test this week.

The University’s Sustainability team has been thinking about some creative ways for you to make use to these.

You might want to consider using them to store pills and vitamins when you are travelling, or for keeping headphones and cash dry at the bottom of your gym bag. You could use them to carry dog treats when you are out walking or herbs and spices when you are camping. They might also be helpful for growing seedlings on your windowsills.

If you have any other suggestions, post them on Twitter this week and tag @Sustainable_UoS. We’ll share the best ones.

Please note that if you live in Southampton, these pots cannot be put in your recycling bin due to the type of plastic they are made from. There will be crates at each of the Testing Programme drop-off points this week to leave any spares that you don’t think you will use.
