Preparation for Clearing 2020

In the lead up to A-level Results Day tomorrow (Thursday 13 August), colleagues from across our University have been gearing up towards an exciting and very busy period.

Advertising

We have been running advertising throughout July and August to drive visitors to our clearing webpages and encourage them to sign up to our Clearing alerts. As of yesterday we had over 46,000 unique views of our Clearing pages.

Part of this year’s campaign has been using Google Adwords to highlight our course vacancies. We don’t pay Google for our adverts to appear on their search engine result pages but instead we pay when someone clicks on our advert. To ensure we get the most from this element of the campaign could we ask colleagues not to click on these adverts.

Student stories

Clearing can be a stressful time for students as well as their families, so our campaign focuses on current students who came to our University through Clearing and found it a positive and supported experience, as well as the stories from their family’s perspective.

Listen to stories from Emily’s parents, as well as from Daniel and Sarah below:

Our list of courses

The list of courses available to prospective students in this year’s Clearing period has been available online for the past few weeks and these are being updated following intake review meetings, in preparation for A level results day. We are offering a limited number of places for talented and well-qualified candidates across a number of subject areas.

What happens if a prospective student calls you?

Should a prospective student contact you, please direct them to the University Clearing website where they can find out about relevant opportunities and apply online from 8am Thursday 13 August. Alternatively, they can call our Clearing hotline on 0330 058 6940 or interact with us using our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

We expect a high volume of calls to the hotline over the Clearing period and these will be carefully managed through a queuing system. To provide the best service to our prospective students please ask them to use the hotline number, apply online or via our social media channels.
