A level and GCSE grades to be revised

At 16.00 today the UK Government announced through Ofqual that it would no longer be using the algorithm for exam results, “students [will] be awarded their centre assessment for this summer – that is, the grade their school or college estimated was the grade they would most likely have achieved in their exam – or the moderated grade, whichever is higher.”

Along with the rest of the sector, we now await confirmation of the process so that we can work through the implications and communicate with our prospective students.

We will provide further updates when we know more.

*update 18.08.2020*

The University is working quickly through the implications of yesterday’s announcement on A-Level grades. We have temporarily suspended Clearing activity pending resolution of the current situation. In the meantime, please do not contact applicants or offer holders directly, we are devising an appropriate communications plan that we will share with colleagues. If an applicant contacts you directly please refer them to [email protected]
