Level 7 appraisal window open: September 2020

The appraisal window for all Level 7 staff is open from 1 September 2020 to 31 December 2020. It is recommended that all Level 7 staff put their appraisal meeting in their diary now, to:

  • review contribution in the year up to 31 August 2020, and
  • agree objectives for the year ahead.

Recording Online

The appraisal discussion should be recorded in the online appraisal form in MyHR Dashboard.

In general, Level 7 appraisees will have two forms:

  • one form dated 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020, to record contribution against last year’s objectives, and
  • one form dated 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021, to record agreed objectives for the year ahead.

Appraisals during COVID-19

Line Managers should be in regular contact with their staff members throughout the year. Appraisal meetings, which may be held virtually this year as some members of staff continue to work from home, provide another important opportunity to keep in touch and provide support.

When reviewing contribution and agreeing objectives, consideration should be given to each individual’s circumstances; with managers affording a certain amount of flexibility by considering the impact of COVID-19 on the staff members’ working environment, health and wellbeing, any personal issues, work priorities and their role.

Training

Online training is available for all Level 7 staff, both appraisers and appraisees, via Blackboard.

For appraisers, a virtual facilitated training discussion is available to support you with challenges and to share best practice. Appraisers of Level 7 staff should attend if they have not previously been trained, or if they would like to refresh their skills. To find out more or book, contact our Leadership and Management Development team.

Detailed process guidance is available on the appraisal guidance on SharePoint. If you have any queries, please contact: AskHR.
