The Voluntary Severance (VS) Scheme closes at the end of this week at 23:59 Sunday, 20 September 2020.
If you are interested in applying, you are advised to submit your application as soon as possible to give your line manager time to complete their actions.
The Scheme was announced on Thursday 30 July, as part of a suite of voluntary cost saving measures for staff. The measures are one aspect of a wider, strategic approach to our recovery from the expected impact of COVID-19.
The voluntary measures include:
- A Voluntary Severance (VS) scheme which opened on Monday 3 August 2020 and closes on Sunday 20 September 2020.
and the following measures:
- The opportunity for reduced working hours for a limited period
- The opportunity for buying additional holiday for a limited period
- The opportunity to take unpaid career breaks for a limited period
- And a reminder that we already have an existing opportunity to apply for flexible retirement.
For information on each of the voluntary measures, how they work, how to apply and the timetable for approvals, please follow the links below:
Colleagues are encouraged to talk with their line managers if they are interested in these measures or if they wish to talk through this announcement.

A reminder that you can find further information about VS on the dedicated VS SharePoint site.
An important reminder to all line managers on Voluntary Severance: if one of your direct reports has applied for Voluntary Severance, you will have received an email seeking your comments. Please ensure you respond to this before the scheme closes on 20th September. If you are unable to respond to it, please let us know by emailing [email protected]
