Pure, the University’s research information system, will be upgraded on 8 October.
Unlike previous upgrades, there will be an anticipated extended ‘outage period’ for Pure of up to three working days, from Tuesday 6 October. This outage period is not only due to the complex nature of this particular upgrade (to version 5.17.4) but also due to the requirement to migrate Pure to a new, underlying infrastructure.
Anyone with outputs that have recently been accepted for publication, which are nearing the Open Access deadline (12 weeks from acceptance), is encouraged to finalise any outstanding output deposits into Pure prior to the outage. You are also encouraged to contact [email protected] if you will need a data DOI, as they cannot be issued or registered during the outage.
Omar Salim, Research Information Manager and Pure Business Owner at the University, said: “Next year we will be using Pure to handle our submission to REF 2021 and, as a result, most of the updates in this Pure upgrade are focussed on Pure’s REF 2021 module. Consequently, we have updated our Pure REF module documentation which can be found here. We will need to upgrade Pure once again in January 2021 to ensure we have the complete feature set required for the submission.
“With this update, we have taken the opportunity to archive the UoS version of the Pure manual that was accessible from the ‘Help’ section within Pure. The updates to Pure have made this manual outdated and, additionally, Elsevier has improved the standard Pure manual significantly. This will also be accessible from the ‘Help’ section within Pure.”
If you have any questions about this upgrade, or Pure in general, please get in touch at [email protected].
