Supporting positive mental wellbeing: University signs up to Togetherall for staff and students

We’ve partnered with the University Health Service and signed up to Togetherall (formerly Big White Wall), an online platform which provides a safe space for staff and students to self-manage their mental health and wellbeing.

For an explanation of Togetherall, watch this short video.

The launch of Togetherall coincides with Mind’s World Mental Health Day 2020 tomorrow, Saturday 10 October. The charity says that the months of lockdown and loss have had a huge impact on us all, and prioritising mental health has never been more important than it is now.

Togetherall works as a chat forum, is available 24/7 and is monitored by trained clinicians. Once you’ve signed up, it’s a safe place online to get things off your chest, have conversations, express yourself creatively and learn how to manage your mental health.

Members of Togetherall are anonymous, so no one will know you’re using it, unless you tell them. Most members report feeling better and more able to cope as a result of using the service because it’s available around the clock.

Professor Alex Neill, Vice-President (Education) and the University’s new Wellbeing Champion says,

“These are challenging times for our community’s wellbeing, both at work and at home. I am committed to working with colleagues across our community to bring wellbeing to the forefront of everything we do here. Togetherall will be a valuable resource in this. It’s available to everyone and provides a non-threatening and supportive space in which people can share their experiences and concerns, with links to professional support if they need it.”

What Togetherall provides:

    • Access 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
    • Clinically managed with trained professionals available 24/7 to keep the community safe
    • Self-assessments & recommended resources
    • Creative tools to help express how you’re feeling
    • Wide range of self-guided courses to do at your own pace

The Health and Wellbeing team provide advice and guidance for staff about wellbeing.
