To enhance the support for students and staff should they find themselves requiring immediate assistance due to mental health issues, the in-house Security Team have achieved certification in First Aid for Mental Health, following an intensive training course.
The Team will work closely with the Stay Safe ambassadors as well as staff who are already trained in Mental Health First Aid, in the Health, Safety and Risk department, Student Services and some Faculties.
Security regularly patrol our campuses and will offer support and assistance wherever they can, this could be contacting friends/family/ensuring staff and students get home safely and/or signposting them to professional support services.
It’s hoped this team of first responders will be a reassurance to students and staff who are starting a new term during a global pandemic.
