Please be aware of financial scams targeting students

We’ve recently become aware of financial scams targeting some of our students so we wanted to ensure you were best informed to help you avoid these scams.

If you receive an unexpected call or are asked to send money to someone who claims to be an official, it may be a scam.

What to do if you receive a call, email, WhatsApp or text message from someone who says they are a police officer or a government official:

  • Never give out any personal or bank details over the phone to someone you do not know.
  • Hang up immediately if you are not expecting a call.
  • Do not respond to any emails or Whatsapp/text messages requesting bank details.

Students who are targeted should contact Action Fraud by calling Tel: +44 (0) 30 0123 2040

If you have any concerns or have been targeted, please contact the Student Services Centre by emailing: [email protected].
