SUSU launches new strategy

Over the summer SUSU have been taking a look at what matters most to them as a Students’ Union. Asking themselves some challenging questions – What do they want to achieve? What should their purpose be? How does all of this impact on students? They have spoken to staff, students, and the University, run polls, questionnaires and focus groups to ascertain the answers.

We can now introduce you to their new strategy, brand, vision and values, and how all of this puts them in a much better position to represent students and deliver on their vision: for every student to love their time at Southampton.

One of the biggest changes is to their values which are now:

Stand Strong: We stand up for students and make sure their voice is heard. We stand strong when facing challenges and are not afraid to be different. We think big and work to achieve great things.

Join Together: We are an inclusive and diverse community of students and staff. We join together with each other, the University, and the local community to make a positive difference.

Take Responsibility: We take action on the issues that matter to students and act with integrity. We continually work to be more sustainable, challenge discrimination and prejudice. We strive to be a force for good for students and wider society.

With a new strategy and new values especially, they have developed their branding as well to incorporate them; “Our values are important to us, so we’ve incorporated them into the existing SUSU logo so they are always at the forefront of everything we do.” Chrissie Heaver, SUSU Marketing & Communications Manager.

All work on the strategy and branding has been carried out and designed in-house, with no external or extra funding spent on this project.
