Ivo Neame: Coming Up For Air

Presented by the University of Southampton Music Department in association with Turner Sims Southampton.

Today at 13:00, you can join pianist Ivo Neame in concert for a performance of his own compositions and some arrangements of music by musicians as diverse as David Bowie, Herbert Howells and Ernesto Grenet. There will also be an interview with Ivo, conducted by George Gatehouse.

Ivo Neame is an award-winning pianist and composer. In addition to leading his own bands, he is a vital cog in several of European jazz’s most forward-looking groups including Phronesis and the Marius Neset Quintet. He regularly performs at jazz festivals worldwide, collaborating with ensembles as diverse as the Frankfurt Radio Big Band and the London Sinfonietta.

This event has no interval.

This is the first concert with a live audience at Turner Sims since the building was temporarily closed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Booking for this event is open to Staff and Students.

  • Upon arrival at Turner Sims, please use the entrance door on the far left-hand side of the foyer (looking at the venue from the gardens)
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times inside the venue, unless you are medically exempt

  • Please keep socially distanced from others throughout your visit
