Sustainability Strategy: Goal One

Last week, we announced the launch of our new Sustainability Strategy. As part of this we have six clear goals which you can read more about on our Strategy SharePoint site

We have also now signed the Global Universities and Colleges Climate Letter which aims to bring together as many networks and institutions as possible to showcase commitments to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and 13 (Climate Change). This will be shared with government officials and media in advance of COP 26.

We will now be releasing a video every Thursday which focuses on one of our Sustainability Strategy goals in more detail.

This week we are talking about Goal One: Achieve net zero emissions for direct emissions that the University controls (mainly from fuel combustion on site) and indirect emissions from electricity purchased and used by the University by 2030.

Watch the video below to find out why this goal is important, how we might achieve it and what work is going on already in this area.

You can watch all videos published so far on this YouTube playlist.

If you have any thoughts or ideas on this, or are doing work you think is related to this goal, then please get in touch by emailing [email protected].
