Southampton ranked in the world’s top 100 by US News & World Report

We’re delighted to once again report that our University is placed among the world’s top 100 institutions, this time in the 2021 Best Global Universities rankings published by US News & World Report.

Our University is ranked 97th overall (jointly with the University of Arizona), placing 11th among UK universities and joint 35th among European institutions. Joining us in the top 100 are some of our key US partners, including UC San Diego, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Rochester.

The US News & World Report rankings feature 1,500 universities across 81 countries and were evaluated on 13 indicators that measure academic research performance as well as global and regional reputation.

Across 28 subject areas where Southampton is ranked, there are ten where we feature in the top 100, including Public, Environmental and Occupational Health (39th); Endocrinology and Metabolism (joint 45th); Geosciences (47th); Mechanical Engineering (joint 52nd); Electrical and Electronic Engineering (joint 56th); Physics (65th); Surgery (joint 66th); Social Sciences and Public Health (74th); Infectious Diseases (82nd); Immunology (joint 84th).
