Invitation to international panel discussion: Decoding the Now

With our former paradigms of time and place now in question in Higher Education, what are the signs for the way out of the crisis?

A panel discussion entitled Decoding the Now in Education has been convened for Thursday 12 November from 12:30-13:30 by the International Office in partnership with the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils. Aligned to the American Council of Competitiveness, the GFCC brings a unique mix of industry, government and tertiary education partners together. As part of their Reboot conversation series, the panel we are convening will debate questions such as:

  • What new models for universities are emerging? – is there a “common operating picture”?
  • What appetite is there to use the crisis as an opportunity for accelerating innovation?
  • How might we ensure that the benefits of digital technologies are distributed equitably (amongst a range of demographics) and what role can [HE/ Industry/ Edtech] play?

Join the debate with thought leaders from universities in Malaysia, Portugal and South Korea. The Qatar Foundation’s Education Advisor Francisco Marmolejo – with his helicopter view of the sector – will provide provocation and a call for action.

The intention is to celebrate and promote learning points; given what we have learnt with lockdown, what shape can we envisage for the digital space and lifelong learning? By providing the space to think through and articulate the future we want, we can direct the impact of digital technologies in Higher Education to create a more equitable and sustainable model.

You can join the discussion by registering here and please send your questions for the panel to Maria Norton.
