The first module of the new Line Manager Development Programme is opening from the middle of November and is available to all line managers at Levels 3 to 7, from those who are new to line management to our most senior managers.
The programme will provide participants with the opportunity to:
- apply the appropriate leadership styles to the relevant situation to achieve an effective outcome
- recognise line management responsibilities and the practical support available to navigate and handle people situations effectively
- develop strategies to manage the student and customer experience more effectively
- manage risks and compliance effectively and consider the financial impact associated with decision making locally and in the wider university context
- build effective relationships that value difference and embed equality and inclusivity
There are three different programmes available, each consisting of four modules. Participants will attend the one designed for their staff level and will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills using a range of engaging and interactive online and virtual learning solutions.
“Line managers play a vital role in supporting their teams to continue to deliver the University strategy, never more so than now with the additional challenges our people face working during a pandemic. The launch of the Line Manager Development Programme demonstrates our commitment to supporting and equipping line managers with the knowledge and skills they need to provide the right levels of support and direction.” – Anne-Marie Sitton, Executive Director, Human Resources
Each programme is being piloted and feedback from the first two modules has already helped ensure the content and context is relevant to our line management community ahead of the roll-out this month.
“The Line Manager Development Programme has been designed to support and equip line managers with the skills they need to build strong relationships to support their teams and work effectively. We have been working with our University community to create a highly participative virtual programme that engages, motivates and meets the needs of our line managers. The programme will be delivered in partnership with The Ken Blanchard Companies and PixelFountain. I look forward to welcoming you onto the programme” – Sarah Marshall, Head of Leadership and Management Development
Over the next three years all line managers will have the opportunity to attend the programme.
