Social Impact Lab: Speaker Series

On Tuesday 24 November, the Social Impact Lab’s speaker series is retuning to Facebook Live with a fantastic line up of guests. Each guest is ready to share their contribution to social impact and help build your knowledge towards world-class leadership and sustainable social change.

For our first talk, ‘Transforming lives through access to higher education’, we’ll be hosting Professor Richard Oreffo from the Faculty of Medicine and founder of the Cowrie Scholarship Foundation. The foundation was founded earlier this year and aims to raise £500,000 to fund 100 scholarships for disadvantaged Black British students to attend leading UK universities over the next decade (2021 to 2031).

Professor Oreffo has been fortunate to experience the advantages of higher education, with degrees from the University of Liverpool and University of Oxford, followed by research in America and Oxford, and believes that finance should not be a barrier to education or opportunity. He’ll be joining Dr. Pathik Pathak on Tuesday 24 November at 17:00 on Facebook Live to discuss the foundation and how you can help.
