All level 7 staff should make sure appraisals are completed before Christmas. The appraisal window for all level 7 staff is closing at the end of December 2020.
The appraisal is your opportunity to meet with your line manager to reflect back and plan for the coming year.
It is a joint opportunity to:
- Reflect on your contribution for the year up to 31 August 2020
- Consider your personal development and career aspirations
- Agree your objectives for the coming year.
To help prepare, level 7 appraisers and appraisees can carry out the appraisal eLearning on Blackboard.
Find out more about what actions to take following the appraisal on this guidance page.
Key tasks include:
- Record the appraisal in MyHR Dashboard.
- Both appraisee and appraiser record overall ratings and notes for the moderation panel on the ‘Overall Contribution Summary’ page of the online appraisal form dated 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020
- Once both have completed, submit the online form
- New objectives for the year ahead are recorded in the form dated 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021
Appraisals during COVID-19
Line Managers should be in regular contact with their staff members throughout the year. Appraisal meetings, which may be held virtually this year as some members of staff continue to work from home, provide another important opportunity to keep in touch and provide support.
When reviewing contribution and agreeing objectives, consideration should be given to each individual’s circumstances; with managers affording a certain amount of flexibility by considering the impact of COVID-19 on the staff members’ working environment, health and wellbeing, any personal issues, work priorities and their role.
