Today, Friday 11 December, the UK Chief Medical Officers have released a statement on the change to the self-isolation period, reducing it from 14 days to 10. This change will apply in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland from 00:01 on Monday 14 December.
This means:
- If you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive, you now need to self-isolate for ten days instead of fourteen.
- People who return from countries which are not on the travel corridor list should also self-isolate for ten days instead of fourteen days.
- People who test positive should continue to self-isolate for ten days from onset of symptoms or ten days from point of taking a positive test if asymptomatic.
The Government is continuing to update its webpages on self-isolating, so please check back if the update date on the page is prior to 11 December.
