Invitation to take part in driver / cyclist research survey

The Transportation Research Group (TRG) is looking for people aged between 18+ who fall into one of the three categories to take part in an online survey.

This research is a part of a project called “CRITICAL”, which stands for CRoss-modal Intervention To Improve Cyclist Awareness Levels (CRITICAL). It is supported by the Road Safety Trust and the aim is to implement the training programmes through Cycling UK. The project team is interested in enhancing safety between two road user groups that have traditionally resulted in a high proportion of collisions, by training car drivers to interact with cyclists and cyclists to interact with car drivers. This will enable road users to both understand risky behaviours and develop higher levels of awareness for the other road user. Researchers are based at the University of Southampton’s Human Factors Engineering research team, within the Transportation Research Group.

The criteria for the survey are as follows:

Driver: To fall into the driver category you must primarily drive and rarely cycle beyond a couple of recreational rides a year.

Cyclist: To fall into the cyclist category you must primarily cycle and rarely drive apart from a couple of long journeys a year.

Driver / Cyclist: To fall into the driver / cyclist category you must regularly use both modes of transport a minimum of once a week

If you would like to take part in the study, please click on this link and complete the short survey (approx. 15mins).
