From University of Southampton Lifelong Learning: NEW from January 2021
We are delighted to offer you a unique opportunity to learn a language from the comfort of your own home.
Our fully tutored courses will take place over 24 weeks from January to July 2021 and will comprise 2 hours of learning per week delivered as a combination of live online lessons and specially prepared learning resources available via our virtual learning platform.
As part of the course you will be learning alongside other students with whom you will be able to practise your language skills and build a virtual classroom community under the guidance of our tutors who are experienced in both classroom-based and online teaching. The online experience offers you practice in all 4 language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing and will take you through one of our language stages (levels) in just two terms.

Beginners (Stage 1)
These courses are suitable for complete beginners and will take you through the basics of the language to enable you to communicate in everyday situations such as shopping, eating out, leisure activities, work, family etc.
French 1 Wednesdays 18.30-20.30

Arabic 1 Thursdays 18.30-20.30
Term dates: 21.01.21 – 25.03.21 & 15.04.21 – 15.07.21
Spanish 1 Tuesdays 18.30-20.30

Greek 1 Thursdays 18.30-20.30

Improvers (Stage 2)
These courses are suitable for students who have already completed a beginners course or who have already gained some basic language skills. They will help you to improve your skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), expand your vocabulary and develop your confidence in communicating in the language. They will also be suitable for students who have ‘rusty’ skills in a language and wish to revive their skills.

Learn Japanese with Asuka: learning at your own pace and in your own place!
The course will run for 24 weeks from 18 January to 16 July and offers the equivalent learning outcomes to one of our full-year Stage 1 (Beginners) courses.
