Dr Jane Prichard, who is currently Deputy Head of School Education in Health Sciences, has been appointed by Council as Head of School (Interim) from 1 January 2021 and will continue in the role until the substantive appointment commences later in 2021.
Dr Prichard replaces Professor Mandy Fader who will be standing down as Head of School at the end of this calendar year and will focus on her role as Associate Vice-President, Strategic Major Projects, as well as her academic role in Health Sciences.
Professor Rachel Mills, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences (FELS), stated on behalf of the Faculty:
“I want to thank Mandy for her hugely important contributions since the formation of FELS and her great leadership of the School through what has turned out to be a range of challenging circumstances, many of which have been unpredictable and certainly unprecedented for the discipline, the sector and our National Health Service. We will be saying thank you to Mandy in many different ways over the next week or so and, of course, we will see a lot of her during the next period.”
Commenting on Dr Jane Prichard’s appointment, Professor Mills continued:
“I am delighted to announce that Jane Prichard has been appointed by Council as Head of School (Interim). Jane has a great track record of Education leadership in the School and has a clear vision for Health Sciences through the next period. I’m looking forward to working with Jane on the Faculty Board and addressing our priorities as a Faculty in 2021.“
Reacting to her appointment Dr Prichard said:
“It is an honour to be appointed to the role of Head of School (Interim). I look forward to working with my exceptional colleagues, both within and outside of Health Sciences, as we continue to conquer the unprecedented challenges from this past year and evolve to achieve the strategic priorities of the next.”
