A recent study undertaken during the summer of this year observed the impact of COVID-19, specifically on ECRs, and focused on the consequence to research/funding/contracts, the support received from the University and the wellbeing of ECRs. It provides a number of important recommendations relevant to line manager/PI, school, faculty and University level planning.
A summary of the findings from the “The Impact of COVID-19 on our Early Career Researchers” has already been published in the Winter edition of RE:ACTION, the University of Southampton Research and Enterprise magazine.
The full report is now available to read on the new ECR Development Hub.
“I welcome this report and its recommendations. Universities are fundamentally communities whose success is due to the inclusion of the diverse talents of its members. Early Career Researchers are important and full members of this community, and this report is a timely reminder that this is not always how they feel. We are committed to ensuring that the recommendations from this report inform our new People Strategy, as well as other supporting strategies, which are currently under development.” – Professor Mark Spearing, Vice President, Research and Enterprise
