In order to reduce the transmission of COVID-19, the UK Government has announced that from 26 December 2020 Tier 4 restrictions will be extended to other parts of England including Southampton and Winchester.

The University of Southampton has put significant COVID-secure arrangements in place on our campuses and in our halls of residence, and have introduced a wide-ranging, efficient and accurate testing regime.  The support of our staff and student community in adhering to guidance means that we are fortunate that our COVID-19 cases are comparably low and our processes are proving effective.  Where necessary we will make alterations to our existing measures to ensure that our community are able to comply with the Tier 4 guidance.

Essential workers

In line with Government guidance, staff who are conducting essential work that cannot be done from home can continue to travel to work as normal. Please ensure you adhere to COVID-secure arrangements on campuses and when travelling. This includes good hand hygiene, wearing face coverings in University buildings and maintaining physical distancing.
