For the Faculty of Medicine’s annual Wade Lecture, Ruby Wax, internationally renowned comedian, mental health campaigner, best-selling author and Chancellor of the University of Southampton, will join Professor David Baldwin, Professor of Psychiatry within Medicine at the University of Southampton and Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist with Southern Health NHS Trust, for what promises to be a fascinating discussion on Ruby’s personal and family history of depression, her training in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and her role as a mental health campaigner.

They will also discuss how adverse impacts of the pandemic on individual and societal mental health can be minimised, with particular consideration to young people, the socioeconomically disadvantaged, and health and social care professionals
