– Thomas Costabile, Executive Director and CEO, ASME
Thomas Costabile will provide you with a comprehensive overview of the mission and vision of ASME. From his base at ASME’s global headquarters in New York City, he oversees ASME’s strategic initiatives, finance, operations, and staff. He will tell you about ASME’s rich history, public policy, and record of publications such as standards, technical journals, and more. Tom will also introduce you to the work that the ASME community does worldwide through networking, conferences, and professional development.
– Professor Mark Spearing, Vice President (Research and Enterprise), University of Southampton
Professor Mark Spearing will dig into the different opinions and misunderstandings about how research-intensive universities can best contribute to regional, national, and global innovation ecosystems. He has spent the majority of his career at three academic institutions, two in the UK and one in the USA, all of which have been highly successful at technology transfer and intellectual property (IP) exploitation. Through his experience, Mark will explain the different strategies adopted across the Atlantic and will speak on how highly beneficial relationships can be created between universities and companies of any size.
