1 February is an important date in the Equality calendar as it marks the start of LGBT+ History Month. Chosen to coincide with the abolition of Section 28 in February 2003, the month is a time to celebrate the achievements of LGBT+ figures throughout history.
Staff and students across the University will be organising a series of events for LGBT+ History Month.
Nicole Akuezumba, SUSU writes, LGBT+ History Month is a time to celebrate the progress of the community but also acknowledge the challenges and the work that still needs to be done.
Throughout the month, SUSU’s line-up of activities and events will aim to uplift our LGBT+ students but also educate and inform others. You can find out more by checking our social media (Facebook and Instagram) and LGBT+ History Month calendar.
