Time to Talk Day: Thursday 4 February 2021

This year’s Time to Talk Day is on Thursday 4 February.

Time to Talk Day is an opportunity for everyone to have a conversation about mental health. This year the theme is the power of small and how a small conversation about mental health has the power to make a big difference.

It could be that the quick message you send a friend, or the virtual tea/coffee break that you have, allows someone to open up about their mental health. Just being listened to can help a person to feel supported and less alone.

One in four of us will experience a mental health problem and nine in 10 say they have faced negative treatment from others as a result. Mental health affects us all and we should feel able to talk about it.

The University has supported Time to Talk Day, part of the Time to Change Employer Pledge since 2014. This is part of the holistic approach to mental wellbeing support, recognising the wide breadth of mental and physical health benefits available to staff and students.

If you would like to organise a Time to Talk event or would like to find out about events already planned, then contact your Faculty or Professional Service Wellbeing Champion.
