The Stefan Cross Centre for Women, Equality & Law is delighted to invite you to its second annual lecture, ‘Class, Sex and the Law’ by Karen Monaghan QC.
The event will take place on Wednesday 10 February 2021, 6-7pm via Zoom.
Karon Monaghan QC is a leading barrister practising in equality and human rights law and a member of Matrix Chambers. She was called to the Bar in 1989 and appointed to Silk in 2008. Karon has appeared in numerous cases at appellate level, including in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the CJEU. Karon has also acted for and advised individuals, regulatory and other bodies in public inquiries and investigations including the Infected Blood Inquiry and the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
She has received numerous awards for her work. She was awarded Liberty’s Human Rights Lawyer of the Year Award in 2010 and the Employment Silk of the Year at both the 2017 Chambers & Partners Bar Awards and the 2017 Legal 500 Awards and was featured in the Lawyer’s ‘Hot 100’ list in 2018. She is a member of the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations and a visiting professor in the UCL Faculty of Laws and has written and contributed to several leading books on equality law.
