Reminder: Travel restrictions and guidance

The Government imposed a Stay at Home order in January which remains in place until the 29 March, prohibiting all but essential travel. After this date some restrictions will be lifted, but international travel restrictions will remain in place until at least 17 May.

As a University we are continuing to restrict University-supported travel to essential only and strongly advise against non-essential travel for the academic year 2020/21, and bookings should not be made at this time.

Applications for University-supported essential domestic travel will continue to require approval from Head of School/Executive Director, and Faculty Dean and Chief Operating Officer approval is required for essential international travel. Further details are outlined in our Essential Travel Policy, including the definition of essential travel.

We know that this may be disappointing for some, but it is vital we protect our community by helping reduce the risk in transmission. It is also important that, in a situation that can change rapidly, we do not commit staff to travel who then may face quarantine measures.
