Join the Public Engagement with Research unit’s events in April

This week, join the Public Engagement with Research unit for a variety of free online events celebrating Earth Day, World Book Night, and book releases by University of Southampton authors and lecturers.

Thursday 22 April at 19:00

You can celebrate Earth Day with this free online panel discussion by the Nature and Biodiversity Community Hub. The panel will be chaired by Dr Tony Curran (Senior Public Engagement Fellow at the University of Southampton), and will feature Dr Jake Snaddon (Lecturer in Environmental Sciences at the University of Southampton), Jamie Marsh (Senior Reserves Manager at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust), Corin Holloway (Vice-President Activities at University of Southampton Students’ Union), and Dr Izzy Sargent (local resident with a background in research and environmental sciences).

Join the Nature and Biodiversity Community Hub’s Biodiversity Game Show for an Earth Day afternoon of games and quizzes! Organised with students from the Marine Conservation Society and the Extinction Rebellion Society, the event will test your knowledge and help you learn more about the natural world.

Join the Spring edition of the Writers in Conversation series, where the University of Southampton Head of Creative Writing Carole Burns will be talking to her colleague, Principal Teaching Fellow of English and Creative Writing and author Rebecca Smith about her sixth book, The Ash Museumwhich is coming out on 3 May.
