On Monday 19 April the Engagement & Advancement Events Team were delighted to deliver their annual Military Education Committee (MEC) Lecture, which this year was held online, and hosted by our Vice Chancellor, Professor Mark E. Smith.
A large audience joined us from around the world (including military staff and students, University staff, alumni and our supporter community) to hear Brigadier General Cindy Jebb provide the audience with valuable insight into her military career. The Brigadier General covered a wide range of topics including the impact of higher education on her career development as an officer and leader and the impact AI is having on the military.
Brigadier General Cindy R. Jebb serves as the 14th Dean of the Academic Board at the United States Military Academy (West Point) and is the first woman to hold this role. Westpoint and the University of Southampton signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2019 which will see 5 cadets studying Masters programmes here at Southampton.
