Preparations are well underway for this year’s Festival of Doctoral Research, which is taking place online from 9-10 June. Deadlines for the two competitions that will form part of the awards have been extended – you now have until Monday 17 May to enter!
Research Poster competition
Taking part in the Poster Presentation competition is a great way for you to present your work and practice answering questions about your research. We’re running a ‘Producing an engaging research poster’ session on Monday 17 May where you can learn what makes a good poster and what tools are available when creating your posters.
Each poster will be judged against the criteria listed, with winners taking the top prize of £100 and runners-up £50.
Creative Representations of Research competitions
New this year, the Creative Representations of Research competition is where you can challenge yourself to think about your research in a different way. From baking your PhD in a cake to capturing it via a photo, poem or dance, in this competition the only limit is your imagination.
The winner and runner-up will be chosen by our specialist Festival judging panel. All PGRs and supervisors will also be invited to vote for their favourite entry during the fringe Festival. The winners and runner-up will be announced at the Festival Awards ceremony on 10 June, with the judge’s winner and People’s Choice winner taking the £100 prizes, and the runner-up winning £50.
These competitions are all about communicating your research and its impact clearly and creatively, so get your thinking caps on and enter!
We’re looking forward to receiving your competition entries and coming together this summer to celebrate all of your achievements. In the meantime, check out the SharePoint site to find out more about what we have planned for this year’s Festival.
