Those EU nationals with five years or more residency in the UK will be given full settled status. Anyone applying who has not lived in the UK for five years will be granted pre-settled status and must apply for settled status before their pre-settled status expires.

The scheme is free to apply allowing people to:

  • Work in the UK
  • Use the NHS for free
  • Enrol in education or continue studying
  • Access public funds such as benefits and pensions, if eligible
  • Travel in and out of the UK

Further details are available on the HR website and the GOV.UK website.

Part of the application process involves using an app which must be downloaded to a compatible smart ‘phone or tablet. If a staff member doesn’t have access to a compatible device they can email to arrange [email protected] access to a University device for this purpose.

There is also a SharePoint site linking to advice and resources for our staff.
