Our University is now among the top 15 universities in the UK according to the newly released 2022 Complete University Guide (CUG).
Southampton is placed 15th overall out of 130 universities listed in the Guide’s annual league table – a rise of two places, up from 17th last year.
Our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark E Smith, said: “I’m delighted to see the University has moved up in the CUG rankings for the second year in a row by two places. Being now placed within in the top 15 in the UK shows that as well as being among the very best universities in the world, we are also excelling within the UK.
“This rise is a fitting tribute to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff during the past year, at what has been a very challenging time due to the pandemic. I really thank everyone for their contribution.”
Overall placement in the table is based on several criteria: entry standards, student satisfaction, research excellence and intensity, graduate prospects, student-staff ratio, university spending on services and facilities, graduates receiving a first or upper second-class honours degree, and degree completion.
