Research staff invited to participate in national survey: CEDARS 2021

The Culture, Employment and Development in Academic Research Survey (CEDARS) is your opportunity to tell us about your current experiences as a researcher and/or manager of researchers at the University of Southampton.

Level 4 –7 Research and Mixed portfolio staff will receive an email invitation on Thursday 10 June, containing a link to the survey. The survey will run from 10 June to 30 June.

CEDARS replaced the long running national Careers in Research Online Survey (CROS). It was developed alongside the revised Researcher Development Concordat, which was launched in September 2019. Southampton became a signatory to this new Concordat in November 2020.

Your responses are vital in helping us to understand what we are doing well and what we can do better to improve your working environment, the research culture, and professional career development opportunities at this University.

CEDARS will provide the University with important anonymised information and the results in 2021 will inform the development of an institutional action plan to address the issues and concerns raised. This action plan will be published in November 2021 as part of our commitment to the Concordat.

At a national level the views of research staff at the University of Southampton are compared with those in other institutions across the country, further informing us of what is working well and where improvements can be made.
