Invitation to join Open Research Symposium “Credit where Credit is due”

Join the University of Southampton Library and Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP) online on Wednesday 7 July for the 2nd Open Research Symposium “Credit where Credit is due”.

This year’s event has a three-fold focus on:

  • maximizing credit and impact for your research;
  • understanding the importance of appropriate attribution to research integrity; and
  • exploring wider platforms for research and publishing, including open peer review.

The University of Southampton has approved a new Authorship, Contribution and Publishing Policy – this has been written jointly by the Open Research and Publication Practice team in the library who worked closely with the Research Integrity and Governance team. This has been developed as part of our Concordat to Support Research Integrity, as well as supporting our commitment to our technical staff and promoting an equitable and inclusive culture – a fair playing field – for all staff who could be involved in publishing process. The policy and associated guidance will be available soon.

Steven Vidovic, Head of Open Research and Publication Practice, will be introducing an overview to the policy and talk to aspects of authorship. He will introduce the other speakers, who are:

  • Demitra Ellina, F1000, an Open Research publishing platform for scientists, scholars and clinicians
  • Charlie Rapple, Kudos, a service that helps researchers and their institutions and funders increase the visibility and impact of their publications
  • Simon Kerridge, Director of Research Policy & Support at the University of Kent

The event will be co-hosted by Julie Reeves from CHEP.

Please book your ticket on Gradbook or Staffbook to join the event on 7 July, 10:00 – 12:30.
