Researchers and Managers of Researchers: CEDARS survey reminder

The Culture, Employment and Development in Academic Research Survey (CEDARS) is open until 30 June and intended for researchers and/or managers of researchers to tell us about your current experiences at the University.

All Level 4 –7 Research and Balanced portfolio staff have been sent an email invitation to access the survey. Many thanks to those of you who have already completed it.

As a signatory to the revised Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers the University is strongly promoting CEDARS.  It is the first time we have been able to survey all research staff and line managers of researchers together.

Your responses will help us to understand what we are doing well and what we can do better to improve your working environment, the research culture, and professional career development opportunities. The results will inform the development of an institutional action plan to address the issues and concerns raised. This will be published in November 2021.

All survey respondents should be aware:

  • Participation in the survey is voluntary.
  • All response data is anonymous.
  • Only the Student and Market Insight team have access to the raw data.
  • The team are bound by the Market Research Code of Conduct.
  • The data is reported on at aggregated University and Faculty levels.
  • Only questions with more than 10 responses are included in the final analysis.
  • Qualitative comments are redacted and only used to identify areas for improvement.
  • CEDARS is a national survey and run within guidelines provided by the CEDARS team.
  • CEDARS AREQA approval number: 2021/199
