Invitation to take part in Automated Vehicle Driver Safety online training study

Do you know what an Automated Vehicle thinks is a hazard? Help test the Transportation Research Group’s (TRG) online training programme.

Researchers within the TRG are running a research project that might interest you. Funded by IAM RoadSmart and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the TRG is looking for drivers who have a full and valid UK driving licence to take part in a study which aims to investigate the effectiveness of an online training programme for drivers of Level 4 Automated Vehicles (also known as self-driving vehicles or autonomous vehicles).

You will take part in one of two training programmes for drivers of Level 4 Automated Vehicles. To make sure the TRG gives you the right training programme, you will first be sent a Microsoft Forms link which contains three questionnaires about you and the vehicle that you drive. You will then be presented with 20 video-clips of everyday driving scenes and will be asked three questions about each clip. Once you have submitted your responses, you will be sent another Microsoft Forms link which contains the training programme. After you have completed the training programme, you will be presented with another 20 video-clips and will be asked the same three questions about each clip.

This study will take between 1½ hours and 2 hours of your time.

You will receive a £10 voucher (Amazon, National Book Voucher, or Love2Shop) as compensation for taking part.

If you would like to take part in this study, please email Siobhan Merriman at [email protected].
