The new Graduate route visa

The Graduate route visa opened on 1 July 2021 and gives students on a Tier 4 or Student visa permission to stay in the UK and work, or look for work, for 2 years after being awarded their degree. This is extended to 3 years for doctoral students.

The Visa & Immigration Student Advice Service (VISAS Team) are required to make the Home Office (UKVI) aware of students who are eligible to apply for the Graduate route. The VISAS Team will email eligible students (to their University email address) after notifying the UKVI.

Students must wait for that email before they apply for the Graduate route visa.

Students who expect to be eligible to apply for the Graduate route visa and who have not received a notification within 10 working days after their award date should contact the VISAS team for further advice.

For further information on the Graduate Route please see the VISAS website, the Government website and the Government published guidance.
