COVID-19 testing for staff

All staff accessing our campuses and facilities over the summer period are still expected to test weekly. Please continue to test even if you have been vaccinated and even if you don’t have symptoms at the time – this is vital to mitigating the spread of COVID in our community.

There are currently two methods of asymptomatic testing available for staff. Details about both testing methods follow below and more information is on the UoS website.

Saliva testing

If you already registered for saliva testing, you can continue to use this method. You will continue to receive weekly texts and emails with details about how and when to next take a test.

If you haven’t yet registered, please contact: [email protected]

For other questions about saliva testing, please contact the Programme team.

Swab testing

Community-based swab testing (Lateral Flow or LFD testing) is also available.

Details of where to collect test-at-home kits is on our website. It is very important that, when testing at home, results are reported online to NHS Test and Trace whether positive, negative or void. Reporting results helps the NHS monitor the spread of the virus.

Testing with symptoms

If you have symptoms, you should get a free PCR test.

Reporting positive tests and self-isolation

Staff who have symptoms, receive a positive test or are advised to self-isolate should inform their line manager and complete the staff COVID reporting form. If you are unable to work as a result, you should record the absence on MyHR Dashboard, in line with HR’s Absence Summary document.

Support

There is support for staff available on the SharePoint site Health & Wellbeing to Health & Safety.

Testing for students

PGR students can find out more information about testing on the Doctoral College website.

All other UG and PG students can find information about testing on the UoS website.

Thank you for your support in keeping our colleagues and students safe.
