Support for staff and students affected by the situation in Afghanistan

We know many of our colleagues and students will be deeply shocked and concerned by the events in Afghanistan. You may be worried about the safety and wellbeing of friends or relatives in the country.

We have several resources that can help support you at this time. Please do reach out if you would like to talk to someone or have additional support.

For staff:

You can contact your line manager to discuss any support or use one of the resources below:

  • You can contact AskHR to find out more about support available to you.
  • The Employee Assistance Programme is a 24/7 confidential service for all staff who need support with mental health, wellbeing or stress related issues. Calls are handled by qualified counsellors and advisors.
  • We also have Wellbeing Champions across our University who can offer advice and a confidential listening space.
  • Togetherall provides a 24/7 online, anonymous safe space where you can discuss any issues and worries you may have with the Togetherall community.

We know this may be a challenging time for many colleagues and encourage you to access our wellbeing resources and advice.

For Students:

If you find yourself in financial difficulty due to the current situation our Financial Support Team may be able to help. You can contact them on [email protected] and an advisor will contact you to discuss your situation.

You can find further information about support on the student wellbeing page.
