University of Southampton ‘Bringing Research to Life’ Roadshow is back

For the first time since Summer 2019, the Public Engagement with Research unit’s Roadshow is returning on Sunday 5 September at the South Downs Green Fair.

The ‘Bringing Research to Life’ Roadshow is a platform designed to help researchers at the University of Southampton share their work with a wide variety of audiences, through interactive and engaging activities for people of all ages. It has been a flagship programme for the Public Engagement with Research unit since 2009, and has reached thousands of people every year since then, before taking a break in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a typical year, the Roadshow tours multiple regional and national events, from community celebrations to music festivals.

The first event the Roadshow will attend after the two-year break is the South Downs Green Fair, a Zero Waste event organised by the Sustainability Centre in East Meon, Hampshire. The day will be packed with games and activities from the Nature and Biodiversity Hub, as well as postgraduate researchers from the Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Infrastructure Systems and the International Centre for Hydraulics Research. The Roadshow programme will also include special speaker Dr Neil Gostling, Lecturer in Evolution and Palaeobiology at the University of Southampton.

You can find out more information about the South Downs Green Fair, including ticketing, on their official website. For more information about the Roadshow itself and this year’s activities please get in touch at [email protected], and follow us through the day at #UoSRoadshow on social media.
