University Council has commissioned a review of our governance documentation, the first major review since 2010.
The way in which our University is formally organised and managed is detailed in what is called the University Calendar. This brings together our Charter, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations.
These documents cover a wide range of activities – from the appointment of Senior Office Holders and how our degrees are awarded, to when our students graduate and the colour of their gowns.
Why are we changing?
- The way our students and staff access information has changed radically since we last reviewed our governance.
- Our operating environment and the regulations we are bound by have also changed significantly in the past decade.
- Some University processes are unclear and overly complex.
- We want to provide transparency about how our University is governed.
- We know that the current University Calendar format is difficult to access, navigate and understand, with a mix of Word documents, PDFs, links and specialist language.
What will the project deliver?
- Greater clarity and transparency about how we operate and are governed – the right people making appropriate decisions at the right time.
- A refreshed suite of governance documentation that is easy to access, understand, navigate and search, with a clearer description of how decisions are made.
