The appraisal window for Level 7 staff is open from 1 September 2020 to 31 December 2021. The appraisal process is the same as previous years, with the exception of moderation.
The expectation remains that everyone should have an appraisal and all appraisals need to be completed within the given timelines. Completion rates will continue to be reported.
The agreed changes resulting from the ongoing Appraisal Review, are expected to be implemented from 2022.
Moderation and the link to pay
Due to the exceptional nature of the last two academic years, UEB have agreed that moderation will not take place in this year’s appraisal round for staff at all levels.
In the absence of appraisal moderation, there will be a revised Level 7 pay review methodology, which will continue to be based on your appraisal outcomes within a more flexible framework. The details of the new Level 7 pay policy will be available towards the end of this year prior to the process being applied.
Holding appraisals
It is recommended that all Level 7 staff put their appraisal meeting in their diary now, to:
- Review contribution from 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021.
- Agree objectives for the year ahead 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2022.
Having quality appraisal conversations remains key to; investing in and supporting people with their development, recognising what has gone well and setting clear direction through objectives for the year ahead.
The appraisal discussion should be recorded in the online appraisal form in MyHR Dashboard.
Training
Online training is available for all level 7 staff, both appraisers and appraisees, via Blackboard.
For appraisers, a facilitated training discussion is available to support you. To find out more or book, contact Leadership and Management Development team.
