Carry Over Holiday requests this year

From today, staff will be able to use the Carry Over Holiday Request on the ServiceNow HR Portal to request to carry over of remaining holiday entitlement if exceptional circumstances have prevented them from taking their leave within the holiday year. Requests will be sent to line managers for approval before being routed to the HR team to update the new holiday year’s entitlement in MyHR.

As per guidance issued, the COVID-19 pandemic will not be considered an exceptional circumstance which prevented staff from taking leave other than in some specific roles, for example those who were in front-line of medical support for COVID-19.  Please refer to your local management if you are unsure whether this is applicable to you.

Only in exceptional circumstances* and with the approval of your line manager, can you request to carry over unused leave to the new holiday year, up to a maximum of five days equivalent in hours (pro-rata if you are part time).

Staff will be able to make Carry Over requests until 17:00 on Friday 29 October 2021.  Approved carry over holiday will be visible in 2021-2022 entitlements by January 2022.

For help on how to request Carry Over Holiday, please refer to the MyHR guide. You can also get in contact Ask HR for further assistance by raising an HR Issue on the ServiceNow HR Portal or calling Ext. 27547

*More than five days equivalent in hours can be carried over where the employee has been on some form of family leave (e.g. maternity or adoption leave), long term sick leave for the majority of the holiday year or some specific roles related to COVID-19 as per the information above.
